Media Economics and FinanceMedia economics refers to the business and financial activities of firms and the genre of goods and services of such firms operating in various media industries. The course will explore the concerns of media economics, the techniques of economic and business analysis, and the overall characteristics of the rapidly changing media industries emphasizing important economic elements such as structure, value, resources, utility and regulation in print, broadcast, cable, film and music industries. This course takes a look at how financial decisions are made within the context of the overall financial system (i.e. financial markets, instruments, institutions and intermediaries, practices and produces, laws and regulations) so that students can work with the fundamental legal and practical considerations of putting together financing packages for media ventures. |
